For fans who aren’t satisfied with the small amount of UFC coverage on television, UFC blogs are a great way to keep up with the latest news from the organization. Their fame and popularity online is a result of the lack of televised coverage and high prices for watching pay-per-view events.
The most widely-used blog of the organization is ‘MMAmania’. The site contains nearly everything a UFC fan looks for: videos, previews, pictures, the latest news and event results, and so on. Fans can also follow the blog via Facebook and Twitter, resulting in greater social connections.
The site is operated by a company that runs many other sports websites as well, called ‘SB Nation’. They are famous for supporting fan interactions through forums, bulletins, and other related posts. They operate websites for all four of America’s major sports: basketball, football, baseball, and hockey.
‘MMAjunkie’, formed in 2006, is another popular blog that follows the UFC. Directed more towards articles, discussions, and forums, the site has won the ‘Best Media Source’ award four different times. It has also been featured on many different media outlets, including the New York Times, Yahoo!, Time Magazine, and ESPN Magazine.
They also host radio and TV shows focusing on the UFC and mixed martial arts in general, from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. They focus on the most up-to-date news from the UFC so listeners/watchers can stay updated. Titled ‘MMAjunkie Radio’, it is syndicated with the channel ‘Fight Now TV’ and airs at noon from Monday through Friday.
Despite the high number of less-popular and smaller UFC Blogs, ‘MMAjunkie’ and ‘MMAmania’ are the most famous, most visited, and most widely-used. They offer far more information, pictures, and videos than most other smaller sites combined. In this ‘Digital Age’, internet blogs are a fantastic way to follow the UFC online.
